
Michaele Schreyer, born in Cologne in 1951, is an economist. She received her doctorate in economics in 1983. In 1989/1990 she was Minister for Urban Development and Environmental Protection to the regional government of Berlin (Senat). In 1991 she became a member of the Berlin regional parliament. From 1999 to 2004 she was Member of the European Commission responsible for the EU budget and combating fraud. She has since worked as a lecturer at universities. 2011 she was appointed as honorary professor at the Free University of Berlin, Faculty of Political Science. She holds numerous honorary offices, including that of Vice-President of the European Movement in Germany and member of the advisory council "Europe/ Transatlantic" to the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
