About the Heinrich Böll Foundation
The Heinrich Böll Foundation is a German political foundation affiliated with the German Green Party. Our Belgrade office works on promoting democracy, human rights, environmental protection, and sustainability in Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated intern to join our Belgrade office team for a 6-month internship starting in September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the work of a political foundation while contributing to meaningful projects in democracy, human rights, and environmental sustainability.
Key Details
Duration: 6 months (September 15, 2026 – March 15, 2027)
Working Hours: 20 hours per week (part-time)
Remuneration: 200 EUR net per month
Vacation Entitlement: 10 days for the 6-month period
Workplace: Heinrich Böll Foundation Belgrade office
Responsibilities
The intern will be involved in various aspects of our work, including:
- Project assistance for two main program components: Democracy and Human Rights, and Environment and Energy
- Website and social media editorial assistance
- Short translations
- Organizational assistance during public events
- Research and administrative support, processing project documents
Learning Objectives
During the internship, the intern will:
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of the daily operations of a political foundation
- Develop understanding of specific project activities
- Receive mentorship from experienced project coordinators
- Have the opportunity to propose, draft, and help implement and administer a concrete project activity (publication, public event or intervention, etc) toward the end of the internship
Requirements
- Excellent English language skills (written and oral)
- Strong interest in democracy, human rights, and/or environmental issues
- Knowledge of regional political and social issues
- Organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in word and table processing software
- Additional language skills are a plus (German, local languages)

Citizens of Serbia, Montenegro, and Kosovo are eligible to apply. Applicants must be in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree studies or recent graduates, and/or Master’s degree students.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed ensuring gender balance and diversity. The selection process includes document review and interviews with shortlisted candidates.
Additional Information
The intern will receive necessary office infrastructure and workspace.
A two-week orientation period will provide basic knowledge about the foundation’s objectives and working methods.
Upon completion, interns must submit an activity report and will receive a certificate from Heinrich Böll Foundation.
